Lion Virginia, was born in Vancouver, attended school in South Burnaby and has always made her home in the lower mainland of BC.  While completing her degree from BCIT in Business Management; specializing in Personal Management; she was also pursuing her career within Human Resources, and raising her two children.  Rising to the challenge within her field she received designation as a “Certified Personnel Consultant” or CPC of which she is very proud.

The Temporary Employment Industry caught her eye and for many years she juggled a base of 500 temporary employees on a daily basis which Virginia describes as similar to selecting the right pieces of a puzzle.  The complexity and fast paced nature of this vocation allowed her to adapt quickly to change, understand different personalities while maintaining empathy for her clients and her employees, or “TEMPS”.  The opportunity to shift her focus into the challenging world of “Headhunting”, or Permanent Placement Field presented itself she dove in and successfully embraced this complex career for many years in Vancouver.

Virginia is excited about the opportunity to serve as Vice District Governor for District 19H.   Confident in her experience, skill set, and “Passion for Lionism”, yet she feels honored for the opportunity and trust bestowed upon her by the Lions of District “H”, the Hallmark District.

Lions became a new and interesting part of her life as a volunteer for several years. Lionism in 1999 became her focus, joining the Abbotsford Lions, the year Lion Grev became Zone Chairman for H6. Active on the board of directors for 4 years, MD19 International Understanding Chairman for PCC Surinder Gahir, recipient of several District Governors Appreciation Certificates, and CSF11 Group Coordinator for 3 years. They moved to the Peninsula area of White Rock in 2002.  Joining the White Rock Lioness in 2004, she became Membership Chairperson, Lioness of the Year and then Club President.  In March 2006 she became a Lynden Lion and with full club and zone support became Zone Chairperson for H1 2006-2007 achieving 100% Zone Chairperson designation.

Virginia is a graduate of the NWLions Leadership Institute and is a Trainer for Presidents within District H.   She is proud to be a recipient of the Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship and a Melvin Jones Fellowship.

Outside interests will see this team ballroom dancing and travelling to warm sunny places.  They have a blended family of 3 children, Tony, Tami and Shawn. ‘Meota’ their spoiled Siamese cat rounds out their family. Lion Virginia and her partner in life PDG Grev are “Lions on Purpose”.
