Chairman H-2
Rock T.
White
I was
born on September 15, 1953 in Great Falls, Montana ... the nearest
hospital to my home town, Fort Benton. My parents had twin boys (Rick &
myself) and the experience led them to realize no further children were
necessary. I grew up and attended high school in Fort Benton. My
summers were spent on the family farm & ranch with winters spent in
town.
I
started my college endeavors @ the University of Montana. After 1 year
of college, I attended and graduated from a Vocational College in Great
Falls, Montana with a degree in “Automotive Countermanship.” After
working in industry for a year or two, I re-entered college attending
two universities both in the Montana State University System (MSU
“Northern” & MSU “Bozeman”). My education allowed me to become a
teacher, counselor, and eventually a public school administrator.
On July 20, 1974
(34 years ago) I married my sweetheart and best friend, Carol (Gross)
White. Together we have raised 3 children: Courtney (30), Greg (28), &
Adam (23). Carol and I are twice grandparents as Courtney has a 4 year
old son, MaKean James Dodson and Greg has a 2 year old son, Cole Maddox
White. Adam is still single and fancy free. We are blessed not only
having three great children but also the world’s two most fabulous grand
kids. Carol and I moved to Washington State from Montana in 1984 when I
accepted a job as a K-12 Counselor out on the Olympic Peninsula in the
Cape Flattery School District. Throughout my 25 year public school
tenure, I spent about 20 years in school administration (mostly as high
school principal) prior to retiring in 2003.
I
first became a Lion back in the mid 1980’s when I joined the newly
formed Clallam Bay Lions Club at Clallam Bay, Washington where we
lived. Unfortunately, I just got started in Lionism when my occupation
allowed me to move to a high school principalship on Vashon Island where
no lions club was available. I did not engage in lion’s club activities
again until I moved to a high school principalship at Coupeville, in
1991. While my career took me to two other school districts, I was
consistently able to maintain my active status as a lion’s club member.
Following my retirement in 2003, Carol and I relocated from Tenino to
Burlington, Washington where we anticipate staying permanently.
I have
been blessed by my participation in Lionism. There is no better feeling
then the feeling gleaned from helping others and making a difference
within a community. I am currently our club’s president and have been
actively engaged within the Burlington Lions Club regarding leadership
offices held and committee chairs participation. I attempt to engage in
every activity tackled by our club. I especially enjoy being Chairman
of our club’s Sight & Hearing Committee and have been deeply humbled
when my club presented me with both a “Sight Fellowship” and a Melvin
Jones Fellowship. During my tenure as a lion I have been honored to
receive a number of awards/recognitions. |
