Russ Watson
ZC 19H6
Russ was born in Brighton Ontario on 15 April 1941. It was the most
spectacular event in the world that day and he celebrates the occasion
every year even though most world leaders have forgotten about it.
He spent 37 years in the Army and retired in 1994 in Chilliwack where he
presently resides with his wife Vi. They have two children, Terri and
Joe and have two most delightful grandsons who they like to spend a lot
of time with.
He joined Lions in Ottawa in 1980 as a charter member of the Barrhaven
Lions Club and has served with clubs in Ottawa, Chilliwack (twice)
Abbotsford, Calgary Chinook, and Yellowknife and presently with one of
the finest clubs in the Multiple District – Dogwood Monarch Lions Club.
As can be assumed, he has gained valuable experience by being exposed to
so many clubs – each with their own identity and aims. He has however
found the one common denominator of each of the clubs and that is that
all the members were willing to live by the motto “We Serve” and were
dedicated to help not only their own community but the global community
as well.
Russ has served in all the club offices and has served as Zone Chairman
twice where he gained a lot of valuable knowledge and experience from
the then D.G.’s, Gord Roberts and Garry Lutz. He hopes to bring that
experience to the present ZC position in addition to learning all the
changes that have taken place over the past years.
He has been 100% Zone Chairman (twice), President and Secretary. He has
the Melvin Jones Fellowship, Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship, an
International President’s Certificate of Appreciation as well as various
District, Zone and Club Awards
He is looking to serve all the clubs in 19 H6 and be available to them
to work hand in hand in achieving the highest possible effort and
efficiency. Our efforts in conjunction with the other Zone Chairman
will go a long way in having the rest of the Lions world recognize that
District 19H are the ultimate in providing service and assistance to
those in need.
Together we can make things happen and we CAN make a difference. |
