RALPH T. NAKAMURA
19H-7 Zone Chairman
I
was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. I am married to fellow Lion
Troy Nakamura; we have three children and four grandsons. Upon my
retirement as a Project Engineer in the electrical industry in Hawaii,
my wife and I moved in 1995 to Langley, Washington on Whidbey Island.
I immediately became involved with community service organizations and
joined the South Whidbey Lions in February 2000; my sponsor was Lion
Jim Eakin.
I was Lion Tamer from 2000 to 2003, Sight & Hearing Chairperson from
2003 to present, White Cane Chairperson from 2003 to present, named Lion
of the Year for 2002-2003, 3rd Vice President in 2003-2004, 2nd
Vice President in 2004-2005, 1st Vice President in 2005-2006,
President in 2006-2007, President in 2007-2008. I received the
Presidents Excellence Award in 2006-2007 and the Retention Excellence
Award from IPP Jimmy Ross in 2006-2007, as well as 100% Attendance
Awards for every year of my membership. I have served as representative
to District H Governor Garry Lutz’s Cabinet, for NLFSH in 2006-2007 and
served as representative to District H Governor Grev Edgelow’s Cabinet,
for NLFSH in 2007-2008.
My hobbies are woodworking, traveling, and being involved with the Lions
and other community service organizations.
